A new act, Modupe Aweda, is poised to rock the gospel music scene when she drops her 13 tracker debut album in a couple of weeks. The Entertainer recently had a chat with her and she opened up on her career and her debut album.
"I started singing 18 years ago in the Methodist Church choir. It's been one long but eventful journey. I am so excited that at last, my album will hit the Nigerian music scene. Lovers of gospel music should watch out for something new and unique; I'm here to set new standards.
"Singing for me is a ministry," she continues, "it took a while to produce the album. I met Wole Oni after a not very happy experience with another producer. My husband felt the sound was not good enough so he had me record it all over again from scratch with Wole Oni so it's definitely a tight album; I'm so grateful to my hubby for believing so much in my talent," Aweda adds, excitement ringing in her voice.
Tracks in the 13 tracker album include Super God, Awesome God, Mo Mo Oruko Re and I Love To Sing Your Praises among others. The graduate of Performing Arts says she sings both in Igbo and Yoruba in order to get her message across.
