Protesters Storm EFFC Office, Want Petroleum Minister Probed

Protesters on Wednesday, stormed the Lagos
Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission to demand the commission probes the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Allison- Madueke.

The Executive Chairman of Coalition Against
Corrupt Leaders, who led the protest, Mr. Debo Adediran submitted a 14-paragraph petition to the EFCC, Lagos office.

The petition read partly: "We refuse to
believe that there exists any clique of the
'untouchables' to which she may probably
belong and this is why we are using our voices to demand that the commission commences without delay, the process of probing the office of the minister, beaming their investigative searchlight on those areas of her activities."

He expressed that the EFCC needed to be
thorough in its investigation.

We therefore have not concluded that the
alleged is either guilty or innocent.

How ever we have reasons to believe that the matter is on the verge of being swept under the carpet going by various political manoeuvrings noticeable among the ruling elite in the country and their political overlords and associates," he added.

The Head of Lagos Operations for EFCC, Mr.
Ilyasu Kwarbi, who received the petition,
however, assured that the allegations levelled against the Petroleum Minister would be investigated.

I appreciate your peaceful conduct. We don't
fear anybody or organization but you should
know that when allegations are brought we need evidence for us to charge anyone to court.
