Pregnant woman, her second husband docked over forgery, threat to life

A heavily pregnant woman Adedoyin Ogunmefun and her husband Babatunde Ogunmefun 38, were yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court over alleged forgery and threat to life.

The defendants who reside at Block 31, Plot 1, Abudu Odusanya Street, Isheri Magodo area of Lagos, were docked before Magistrate Mrs Abimbola Komolafe.

The suspects who are beautician and engineer respectively, are facing a three count charge of conspiracy, forgery and threat to life preferred against them by the police.
The Police Prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emurih, told the court that the defendants in December 14, 2011, at about 12pm at National Population Commission Registration Centre, Oregun PHC at Ikeja, forged birth certificates   A08 No 0268922   and A08 NO 0268923.

He said that the defendants knowing full well that the certificates were forged and presented same to Parthcare Laboratory in Oduduwa Crescent, GRA Ikeja.

The prosecutor also alleged that the second defendant Babatunde Ogunmefun between 10 and 12 of May 2013 at midnight sent text messages through a telephone number 08142880234, threatening to kill one Abraham Okoro.

According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under section 409, 363 (3) (0)and 230 of the criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.

The defendants were granted bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The magistrate further adjourned the matter till December 4, 2013, for hearing.
