Party members from across the 23 local Government Areas of Rivers state reportedly took to the streets of Port Harcourt to celebrate the governors defection.
They carried placards that thanked God for an end to Amaechi's inordinate political ambition.
The jubilant party members said that Amaechi's departure is a signal that the party remains supreme and will not tolerate indiscipline, warning that anybody that indulges in anti-party activities will be expelled.
